| The luxury of having not only your own private villa but also your own private pool is very rare in Crete so we are delighted to be featuring these villas, each with its own swimming pool. Ahladomouri Villas have other irresistible attractions too - wonderful panoramic views, a rural location in unspoilt countryside and convenient access to beaches and to Chania Town. Situated down a track passing through olive groves, the villas were built by our friend George Vlamakis, a local architect, to our own exacting specifications and thus offer accommodation of a far higher standard of design, comfort and finish than is normally found in Greece. Thoughtful enhancements make these recently-built villas extra special, such as gorgeous, hand-crafted tiles imported from Italy, state-of-the-art bathrooms with Jacuzzi bathtubs or hydro-massage shower cubicles. Attractive modern furnishings and the benefit of air-conditioning in all the rooms contribute further to the high level of comfort in these villas. Thanks to their elevated position, the views from the Ahladomouri Villas down to the sea and up to the White Mountains are truly entrancing, and the highest of the villas surveys a magnificent panorama that encompasses the entire Gulf of Chania from the Akrotiri Peninsula in the east to the Rhodopou Peninsula in the west. Yet in spite of the villas’ peaceful, secluded location, Chania Town is no more than 20 minutes’ drive from here, and the sandy beaches to the west of the town can be reached in even less time. Pano Stalos is a wonderfully peaceful rural oasis - a typically pretty but ramshackle Cretan village with a kafenion, three simple tavernas and a general store - and yet is less than 3km above the sea at Kato Stalos, just west of Chania. The beach at Kato Stalos is broad and sandy so it is understandable that the pretty tree-fringed coastline has been developed with tavernas, bars, shops and apartments. A little further along the coast, all types of watersports are available, and those who like that sort of thing - teenage offspring for example - will find plenty of lively music bars in the coastal resorts of Agia Marina and Platanias. |
