| The Orpheas villa is a lovely surprise, at the end of a winding country road, hidden well away behind a villa complex with smart lawns and colourful landscaped gardens, it benefits from its own entrance and has the air of a well cared for villa. Set in its own gardens and given further privacy with a row of trees along one side, the private pool is a good size for the pretty two-bedroom villa and has plenty of space for long summer days lazing around the pool and evenings spent dining out al fresco. The one-storey villa with beige tiled roof is tastefully decorated in a contemporary fashion, with all the little touches to make the stay extra special. The open plan living area has a kitchenette with all the usual amenities and the attractive tiled floors keep the whole place cool in the summer. The double and twin bedrooms have air conditioning for when it’s really hot. The nearest pebble beach is about a thirty minute walk as is the nearest taverna and mini market, but we have included a car in the cost of the holiday to take the strain off carrying the groceries home. The nearest town, Maleme is a laid-back resort with a small selection of tavernas and restaurants, a couple of bars, and as Chania is only a thirty minute drive it’s great to alternate simple Maleme with some evenings in this enchanting town. |
